100 shrubs planted
Last Saturdays planting at the Westbrook Undercliff Nature Park saw volunteers brave the cold to plant bee friendly shrubs to create a haven for Bumble Bees. 100 shrubs were planted which included hawthorn, blackthorn and dog rose.
Planting in full swing
Loading up mulching
Job done including mulching which hopefully will help them survive this weeks Artic weather.
This could not have been achieved without the help of volunteers from Thanet coast Project, WASPS, Westgate and Westbrook Residents' Association, Dane Valley Woods and of course the Bumble Bee Trust and Councillor Ash Ashby. Thank you everyone who helped and I hope I have not forgotten anyone. When these blossom they will provide nectar for bees and hope stem the decline of some of the at risk bumble bees.
