Westgate Village Green gets Green Light from Inspector

Inspector recommends registration as a Village Green

As reported on this blog on 27th November 2013 the application to register a field adjacent to Ursuline Drive Westgate was subject of a public enquiry.

It has just been reported to me that the inspector has recommended that this land should be registered as a village green.

This now has to go to the KCC Common's Committee to ratify this decision and hopefully that should be a formality.

The applicant Graham Rickett says " I’m over the moon – for the law clinic as well as locals."

The public enquiry was held in November where all the evidence was heard in great detail from both the landowner and local people who were keen to save this plot of land for continued use for leisure and pastimes. The applicant was represented by the Kent University Law Clinic whereas the landowner was represented by a barrister.

This piece of land is rich in wildlife and has been used and enjoyed by local people for many years.
This decision should provide protection from development.
